She had learned to part her hair so the crown stayed hidden. Calming the scalp first gave the follicles that were still active a real chance to recover the area.

Long-term tight installs had thinned the hairline. Since the follicles were still viable at 200x, the plan put tension relief and scalp restoration first.

Why Alopecia Areata Care Works Better When It Goes Deeper.

Alopecia Areata Lives In The Immune System. The Scalp Is Where It Shows Up.

A dermatologist examines the skin at the patch. A trichologist goes further: the follicle under magnification, the immune markers, your thyroid, your ferritin, your cortisol, and your gut health. Alopecia areata is autoimmune. Dr. Nina's protocols reach every layer that matters.

You were treating the right condition. We just go deeper.

Watch: Website Introduction 2026

Your Alopecia Areata Started Somewhere. Six Triggers We Identify.

Nutritional Deficiency Iron, ferritin, zinc, vitamin D, and B12. Low levels can affect immune regulation and the hair cycle at the same time. We read the numbers that matter for alopecia areata recovery.
Chronic Stress Response Cortisol dysregulation is a common trigger for an alopecia areata episode. We map when the patch appeared against what your body was handling.
Daily Habits Sleep, hydration, and tension from styling can slow follicles that are trying to recover. We connect the dots so your routine supports regrowth.
Hormone imbalance Thyroid, estrogen, and androgens help steer the hair growth cycle. Hormonal shifts can trigger or worsen autoimmune flares, including alopecia areata.
Medication side effect Some prescriptions can trigger immune responses that contribute to alopecia areata. We review everything you are taking to find what may be a factor.
Autoimmune Activity Alopecia areata often appears alongside other autoimmune conditions. We assess thyroid autoimmunity, vitiligo, celiac disease, and the patterns that may connect them.

Before we treat your alopecia areata, we look for the trigger. And you see the evidence yourself at 200x.

Why We Look Beyond The Patch

Alopecia Areata Is Autoimmune. The Full Answer Lives In The System.

Actionable Information Looking at the whole system gives you specific immune and metabolic factors you can address, including thyroid function, nutrient status, and gut health.
The Patch Is The Signal Alopecia areata is your immune system targeting your follicles. The patch tells you something happened. The internal assessment helps show what may be contributing.
Many People Regrow Hair Many people with alopecia areata have one episode and full regrowth. Looking wider gives you the information to move forward with clarity.
Everything Handled In One Place Your alopecia areata assessment and internal review are both handled here. One team, one location, one plan.

The internal side of this work has its own home on the site, including how hormones, nutrients, and immune activity are reviewed alongside the scalp.

How We Work

The Immune Factors We Check And What 200x Shows At The Patch

What we evaluate alongside your alopecia areata

Thyroid function and any history of thyroid disease in you or your family
Iron and ferritin, because alopecia areata recovery depends on storage iron well before anemia shows on bloodwork
Vitamin D, which plays a direct role in immune regulation and is often low in autoimmune conditions
Concurrent autoimmune conditions, including vitiligo, celiac disease, Hashimoto's, and type 1 diabetes
Digestive symptoms and gut health as part of the wider immune picture
Stress and sleep, mapped against when the alopecia areata patch first appeared
Medications, recent illness, and any infection close to onset
Family history of alopecia areata or other autoimmune conditions

Active Versus Resolving Alopecia Areata At 200x

An active patch tends to show exclamation-mark hairs at the border, meaning short broken hairs that are narrower at the scalp end than at the tip. Alongside them there are often black dots where a hair broke at the surface and yellow dots at the follicular opening. Follicular openings themselves are preserved, which is the single most important finding, because it means the follicles are still there.

A resolving patch looks different. The border settles, exclamation-mark hairs become scarce, and the field fills with upright regrowing hairs, often fine and lighter in colour than the surrounding hair. Pigment usually returns as the hair matures.

Preserved openings are what separate alopecia areata from a scarring alopecia at the same site, and it is why the read matters before any plan is written. Smooth skin with the openings gone is a different condition with a different answer.

Both states are photographed from the same fixed positions each visit, so at review we compare your patch against your own baseline rather than against an impression of how it looked last time.

Alopecia Areata Questions, Answered.

Honest Answers
Before You Commit

If your question is not here, call us. You will talk to a real person.

Can alopecia areata hair grow back?

In many cases, yes. Alopecia areata preserves the follicle. As long as the openings are intact, which we confirm at 200x, those follicles can produce hair again.

What causes alopecia areata?

Alopecia areata is autoimmune. Your immune system targets your own hair follicles. Common contributing factors include stress, thyroid dysfunction, nutrient deficiencies, gut health issues, and genetic predisposition.

How is alopecia areata different from other hair loss?

Alopecia areata creates smooth, round patches because the immune system targets specific follicles. Traction alopecia comes from tension. CCCA involves scarring. Telogen effluvium is diffuse shedding. Each requires its own approach.

How long does alopecia areata treatment take?

It varies. Some clients may see fine new hairs in 8 to 12 weeks. Fuller regrowth can take 6 to 12 months depending on how long the patch has been present and what the assessment shows. Results not typical. Individual results will vary.

What do I need before coming in?

Just an appointment. Most clients come in with a patch and a question. We assess whether the pattern is alopecia areata, identify the stage, and review potential immune triggers in your first visit.

What happens during the $99 Discovery?

You receive 30 focused minutes with a certified trichologist, a 200x view of your alopecia areata patch on screen, and your written report the next business day.

Can alopecia areata spread?

It can. Some people have a single patch that resolves on its own. Others develop multiple patches or see existing ones expand. Early assessment helps establish the stage and whether follicular openings remain intact.

Do you treat alopecia areata in men?

Yes. We assess scalp patches, beard patches, and eyebrow thinning using the same process: magnification, a wider health review, and a written plan.
